LeBron James’ Agent Rich Paul Drops the Biggest Hint Yet On Lakers Star’s NBA Future Amid Retirement Rumors

LeBron James' agent and Klutch Sports head honcho Rich Paul dropped a massive hint about the Los Angeles Lakers star's NBA future.

While LeBron James continues to impress with his dominant play for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, his retirement continues to be a topic of discussion.

The 41-year-old is in his 23rd season in the league, and his durability, longevity, and sustained dominance are getting a lot of attention right now, given his success in this year’s playoffs.

Despite being without Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves in the Lakers’ first-round series against the Houston Rockets, James has lifted Los Angeles to a 2-0 lead by putting the team on his back, averaging 23.5 points, 10.0 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 3s, and 1.5 steals, while shooting 48.6% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range.

Now, James’ agent and Klutch Sports head honcho Rich Paul is weighing in on how much longer the Lakers superstar will play, and his answer raised eyebrows.

Rich Paul Reveals LeBron James Isn’t Retiring Anytime Soon

While there have been rumors that this could be James’ last season in the NBA, Paul believes the four-time NBA champion has a significant amount of gas left in the tank.

“LeBron could play five more years,” Paul said on the “Game Over” podcast. “He could play for at least 28 years in the NBA. Now, I personally think he should play for 25 years. He definitely has at least two more years in him. I’m not so sure that the people, fans, we should be sitting here trying to push him out of the league.”

In related news, James had previously dropped a cryptic response when asked if he would lace up for an unprecedented 24th NBA season. Speaking to the reporters during the All-Star weekend, “When I know, you guys will know,” he told reporters, per The Athletic. “I don’t know. I have no idea. I just want to live. That’s all.”

In the same vein is also James’ future in LA with the Lakers. The rumor mills are churning that the veteran forward might reunite with his former franchise, the Cleveland Cavaliers, or link up with Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors. However, reports have also added that James and the Lakers aren’t ruling out a return to the Purple and Gold. For now, it appears that James is undecided on his future.

On the season front, James has been a force for the side, likely to see both Dončić and Reaves out for the first round. With the team now heading to Houston for the next two games, his ability to perform at an elite level, while also elevating the undermanned roster, gives every reason to believe that the side can pull off at least one road win to inch closer to a second-round berth.
