NBA World Reacts to LeBron James’ Historic Triple-Double in Lakers’ Win Over Mavericks: ‘GREATNESS’

The NBA world was totally going wild after Lakers star LeBron James recorded a triple-double, at 41 years old, against the Mavericks.

For anyone thinking that Father Time has totally caught up with Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, well, he had something to say about it on Thursday night.

James put himself in the NBA record books once again as the Lakers defeated the Mavericks, who were without rookie sensation Cooper Flagg, in a 124-104 victory at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Just what did James do that has the entire NBA world in a stir? Oh, he just became the oldest player in NBA history to record a triple-double. ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin shared the basic details of James’ effort on X.

“LeBron James: 28 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists,” McMenamin wrote. “The oldest player in NBA history to record a triple-double.”

Hoops Central’s X account not only mentioned what James did but added a very important word: “GREATNESS.”

What did Lakers head coach JJ Redick think about James’ effort against the Mavericks? Oh No He Didn’t’s account on X shared a clip from Redick’s postgame press conference, where he tried to put what King James did in some type of perspective.

“I don’t take for granted how good he is,” Redick told reporters. “I recognize that on a daily basis. The more remarkable thing is how much he cares in his 23rd year with all his accomplishments. He’s got a 23-year prime basically.”

Oh, how old is James? He’s a 41-year-old man scoring at will, rebounding the ball, and dishing it out to his fellow Lakers players. What about comparing James to another Lakers legend, Earvin “Magic” Johnson? Oh No He Didn’t’s X account put things in a picture-perfect perspective for NBA fans.

When James was going for his final rebound, he had an interesting comment that he made to a teammate. On the bench, James was caught on camera saying, “I said get your a** out of here!”

How is James doing average-wise in the 2025-26 NBA season? He’s averaging 21.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game, and shooting 50.2% from the floor. He nearly doubled his averages in rebounds and assists on Thursday night.

Not too shabby for a 41-year-old NBA star who has four NBA championships to his name.
