LaVar Ball Sends Strong Message to Hornets About Former Lakers Guard Lonzo Ball

LaVar Ball strongly believes his son, free agent guard Lonzo Ball, is the perfect fast-paced fit for the Charlotte Hornets.

LaVar Ball, the father of the NBA’s Ball brothers, LaMelo and Lonzo, is back at it again with hyping his sons. This time, LaVar was showing his love and support to his eldest son, Lonzo.

In 2017, Lonzo was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers as the second overall pick. Since then, he’s played with four different teams, including the Lakers. Now an unrestricted free agent, LaVar urged the Charlotte Hornets to pick up Lonzo.

LaVar Ball Explains Why Lonzo Ball is a Perfect Fit For the Hornets

After playing 35 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lonzo was traded to the Utah Jazz and was immediately waived, making him an unrestricted free agent. Lonzo has been a free agent since February and hasn’t found a new team since.

In a recent episode of “Big Baller Podcast”, Lonzo’s father, LaVar, suggested that the Hornets should eventually acquire his eldest son and let him play with his younger brother, LaMelo.

LaVar then explained why Lonzo would be a good fit for the team. The elder Ball believes that even without LaMelo on the court, Lonzo can still lead the team deep into a playoff run.

“Charlotte, if anything, you guys could get to the playoffs and do some damage if you get Zo,” LaVar said. “You know why? Even if you took Melo out, with Zo in, they’re going to play faster than when Melo’s pushing the ball. Because Zo is faster-paced. Always been like that.”

While there might be some truth to what LaVar is suggesting, it’ll be easier said than done. According to several reports, interest in Lonzo in the NBA has slowly faded. This is due to his tendency to injure himself.

Reports said teams like the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets initially showed strong interest in Lonzo. However, after reviewing his medical history, both teams concluded it might not be worth investing in a player who might not play long-term.

Meanwhile, the Hornets have also expressed interest in pairing the Ball brothers together. However, that too remains to be seen as Charlotte will look to secure more defensive-oriented players during the offseason.

With all that said, it’s hard to say whether Lonzo will still play in the NBA. Some rumors suggest that Lonzo might move to the NBL in Australia due to the NBA’s limited interest in him.
