Lakers Injury Update: Exploring LA’s Status Ahead of Clash vs. Rockets

As the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets prepare for a regular-season clash, key players are nursing injuries.

Since acquiring Luka Dončić on February 2, the Los Angeles Lakers have been dominant, going 21-12 and winning three of their last five games. Their latest victory was a 112-97 statement against Dončić’s former team, the Dallas Mavericks, where he scored 45 points and LeBron James added 27.

As the Lakers prepare to face the Houston Rockets, the injury report is key.

Lakers Injury Status Ahead of Rockets Clash

Per the Lakers injury report by ESPN, James is listed as “Probable” for the game against the Rockets due to a nagging groin injury sustained on March 8 against the Boston Celtics. Despite leaving that game early, he still scored 22 points.

Despite the injury, the 40-year-old continues to perform well and mentor the team during their playoff push. However, fans should monitor his playing time as the Lakers might manage his workload.

Maxi Kleber is the only Lakers player listed as “Out”. He has not played since undergoing right foot surgery in late January, so his absence is not expected to impact the team.

Here is the projected lineup for the Lakers:

Projected Lakers Starting Lineup vs. Rockets

Despite the injuries, the Lakers are expected to field a strong lineup against Houston:

  • PG: Luka Dončić
  • SG: Austin Reaves
  • SF: Rui Hachimura
  • PF: LeBron James (if he plays, otherwise Jarred Vanderbilt)
  • C: Jaxson Hayes

The Lakers have secured a playoff spot but face tough competition from the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets. If Dončić and others continue their strong play, LA should be in a good position against the Rockets.

Rockets’ Status Before Friday Night’s Game

The Houston Rockets, holding a 52-28 record and the second seed in the Western Conference, also face injury challenges before their Friday night game against the Lakers.

According to ESPN’s injury report, forward Jae’Sean Tate is confirmed “Out”. Additionally, key players Jabari Smith Jr. (groin issue), Fred VanVleet (ankle issue), and Alperen Sengun (personal reasons) are listed as “Questionable”.

With these absences, the Rockets will heavily rely on Jalen Green, who averages 21.4 points per game, and Dillon Brooks, who contributes 14.1 points per game. Their performance will be crucial for the team’s competitiveness against the Lakers.

Projected Rockets Starting Lineup vs. Lakers

Given the current injury report, the Rockets’ projected starting lineup is:

  • PG: Amen Thompson
  • SG: Jalen Green
  • SF: Dillon Brooks
  • PF: Tari Eason
  • C: Alperen Sengun (if he plays, otherwise Steven Adams)

Despite their setbacks, the Rockets remain a formidable opponent, setting up an electric matchup against the Lakers with high-caliber talent on both sides.
