Disneyland quickly became a cherished Bryant family tradition, a place where Kobe and Vanessa forged countless memories. Their first date took place at the park in 1999, and two decades later, Kobe commemorated the anniversary by writing on Instagram:

“On this day 20 years ago I met my best friend, my Queen @vanessabryant. I decided to take her on a date to Disneyland tonight to celebrate old school style (pre 4 princesses). I love you my mamacita per sempre.”

In his 2015 documentary Kobe Bryant’s Muse, Kobe reflected on growing up loving Disney despite rarely visiting the parks and how Vanessa’s shared passion for all things Disney made her his “best friend”:

“She was just beautiful. We literally did everything together. Everything together. And I thought I was a big dork because I loved Disneyland,” Bryant said in the documentary. “I loved the Disney movies and things like that, but I never really had a chance to go to the park much. She was a big Disney fan, too, and we used to hang out at Disneyland, we used to go to Magic Mountain, she became my best friend.”
