Kevin Durant Makes Honest LeBron James Statement After Rockets-Lakers Game

Kevin Durant was asked about LeBron James after the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Thursday night, the Houston Rockets played the Los Angeles Lakers in California.

The Rockets won by a score of 119-96.

Kevin Durant finished the victory with 25 points, four rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two blocks while shooting 8/14 from the field and 4/6 from three-point range in 33 minutes of playing time.

After the game, Durant was asked about Lakers star LeBron James.

Durant: “The standard that LeBron has set for greatness and being prepared and loving the game and enthusiasm for the game is something I’m trying to emulate as I get older. I’m just grateful every matchup we have.”

James finished the loss with 18 points, two rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block while shooting 7/13 from the field and 1/3 from three-point range in 32 minutes of playing time.

Durant is in his 19th year out of Texas.

The 2014 MVP is averaging 25.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 51.1% from the field and 44.0% from three-point range in 26 games.

With the victory, the Rockets improved to 18-10 in 28 games, which has them as the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

Skip Bayless Wrote: “Kevin Durant, 37, played much younger than LeBron, 40, tonight as Rockets beat the Lakers by 23 in LA. KD had 25 (4-6 from 3) and led both teams with 9 assists. KD has always owned the “King” in big-stage games.”

On the other side, the Lakers dropped to 19-10 in 29 games, which has them as the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

James (who is in his 23rd season) is averaging 20.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest while shooting 48.5% from the field and 31.1% from three-point range in 13 games.

Via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin: “JJ Redick said he told his group to be ready for an “uncomfortable” practice and film session on Saturday to address what Redick described to reporters as a lack of proper care. LAL next plays Sunday vs. SAC.”

Durant and James have now faced off 44 times (including playoffs) over their legendary careers.

James has the 24-20 advantage.
