Should You Draft Kelly Oubre Jr. in Fantasy Basketball?
Kelly Oubre Jr. has scored nearly 9,000 points across a career that has seen him play for five different franchises and he’s proven more than capable of putting up fantasy points when given the opportunity.
Will he get the opportunity in 2025, however, is the question.
In an ideal world for the 76ers, I don’t think so. Quentin Grimes signed a one-year deal this offseason and that’s going to make cracking the starting lineup an uphill battle. That’s not to say he can’t thrive off the bench, but he’s fighting with a mix of veterans and young prospects for minutes and expecting any of them to consistently handle a fantasy friendly role is more optimistic than I’m willing to be.
Of course, there is injury risk up-and-down this roster and that leaves room for the rotation to change with regularity. I would bet on Oubre holding value at points this season, just not to open the season.
Teammate VJ Edgecombe, Cason Wallace, and Obi Toppin are all more appealing options after the first dozen rounds are in the books.
