Towns told Shannon Sharpe on the podcast “Club Shay Shay” that they were friends until COVID-19 changed everything for him.
After the Knicks big man lost his mother, Woods supported him through the tragedy, and in time, they grew closer together. Now, she’s an active part of his athletic life. In a conversation with People magazine, Towns described Woods’ support as “truly special to me.”
He added, “Being better versions of ourselves every day, through each other, it’s pretty special.” He also shared how much she’s embraced his career.
“We have those talks, we watch game film with each other, we watch lots of basketball with each other, and we’re dissecting the game,” Towns said. He even called her a “basketball savant.”
Woods is a model and reality TV star, best known for her longtime friendship with Kylie Jenner. She made headlines a few years back when she was linked to the breakup between Jenner’s half-sister Khloé Kardashian and then-boyfriend Tristan Thompson.
But that drama seems to be behind them. Jenner and Woods were recently seen together at the Knicks’ May 12 win over the Celtics. Kendall Jenner and actor Timothée Chalamet were also there.
Outside of her modeling and socialite status, Woods is also a singer. She recently dropped a song and music video, “Be With You,” dedicated to Towns. In it, the couple appears tight-knit and unbothered by the pressures of life in the spotlight.
For Towns, suiting up for the Knicks is a childhood dream come true. The New Jersey native grew up rooting for the team, and winning a title at Madison Square Garden would mean everything.
