Jimmy Butler III isn’t looking for a dramatic homecoming. The Golden State Warriors star made it clear—his return to face the Miami Heat is just “another game” in his eyes.
After an ugly 124-115 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Butler brushed off any extra emotions about playing against his former squad. But let’s be honest: Heat fans and the entire NBA world will watch the Warriors vs. Heat matchup closely when he steps back into the Kaseya Center.

Jimmy Butler III Shuts Down Miami Hype: “It Don’t Make No Difference”
Butler’s breakup with the Heat wasn’t exactly smooth. From trade rumors to locker room tension, the situation got messy fast. But if you ask Butler, it’s all ancient history now.
The Heat haven’t been the same since trading Butler to Golden State in a five-team deal before the deadline. While the Warriors are 16-4 since Butler’s debut, Miami has spiraled into chaos, losing 10 straight for the first time since 2008.
Still, Butler insists he’s not interested in how Miami fans will welcome him back. “I love that fan base. They showed me a lot of love while I was there. But I’m there to win now. I’m on the opposing team.” Butler’s assessment was brutally honest, but it was the truth. He needs this mindset if he wants the Warriors to topple the Heat and avenge the loss to the Hawks.
Warriors next play Tuesday against the Miami Heat. Is Butler looking forward to playing Miami?
“Going to be another game for me. Another game that we’re expected to win, for sure.”

He also said that after Friday’s loss to Atlanta, “We were alright,” he admitted. “We didn’t win nothing like we were supposed to. So I dunno. We made some cool runs. We had some fun. I think that’s all we did.”
Golden State Warriors Focus: Beating Miami Without Stephen Curry
Golden State is still adjusting to life without Stephen Curry, who remains sidelined with a pelvic contusion. Head coach Steve Kerr expects Curry to rejoin the squad at some point during their six-game road trip, but Butler isn’t waiting around for reinforcements.
“Another game for me, another game that we’re expected to win for sure,” Butler said. “So we got to figure it out very quickly.”
The Warriors will also see familiar faces like Andrew Wiggins and Kyle Anderson in this matchup. Both were sent to Miami in the Butler deal. They are also set to face off against their former team.
Miami is desperate for a win, but with Butler locked in and Golden State surging, this game could be another harsh reminder of how much things have changed since February. Butler might call it “just another game,” but when the ball tips off in Miami, you can bet the energy will say otherwise.
