It’s been nearly a couple of months since we last saw Jimmy Butler take on the hardwood. Back in January, Butler suffered from a torn ACL, which forced him to sit out the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Since then, we haven’t heard from the Golden State Warriors star. However, after seven weeks of silence, Butler has finally appeared on social media to provide an update regarding his injury.

Jimmy Butler Now Undergoing Recovery Phase
On January 19, Butler tore his right ACL when the Warriors took on the Miami Heat. Butler landed on the floor awkwardly after his collision with Heat guard Davion Mitchell. After the game, Butler had himself checked, and an MRI confirmed a complete tear of his ACL. Since then, it took three weeks until he underwent a surgical procedure for his right knee.
Fast forward to the present day, and Butler is finally in recovery. The Warriors are now traveling with him again in games. According to several reports, Butler’s main focus right now is to regain flexion in his right knee.
As of this writing, Butler is still on crutches; however, several sources suggest he will be rid of them this week.
Since traveling with the team again, reporters had the opportunity to interview Butler regarding his injury timeline. It appears the Warriors star is doing well, and his road to recovery is right on schedule.
“I just had surgery on my ACL five weeks ago,” Butler revealed. “But, I’m good man, happy. It’s been tough not being around my guys; it’s hard. Not being able to play the game that I love. But the rehab has been going. We’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing, trying to get back on the timeline.”
We talked to Jimmy Butler for the first time since he tore his ACL back in January. Overall, in good spirits, and attacking rehab:

Butler finished the season after playing 38 games, averaging 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals. His presence on the court made the Warriors look like a far better team.
Since his injury against the Heat, the Golden State has gone 7-16 in games without Butler, contributing to the team’s 32–35 record as the 9th seed with 15 regular-season games to go.
Stephen Curry finally got the help he needed, while Butler found a system that allowed him to play freely. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they never got to see the end result of what could’ve been this season.
The good news is that at least the team now knows what the duo of Butler and Curry is capable of and will try to build around their dominance during the offseason when free agency begins in the summer.
