Jeremiah was born on October 14, 2006, to Jeremy Fears Sr. and Sekia in Joliet, Illinois. While much isn’t known about his mother, Fears Sr. has an impressive college basketball resume, having played for Ohio University and Bradley University.

Jeremy Sr. was a member of Ohio’s Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team in 2005. He averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.9 steals per game in 51 games. Jeremy Sr. later transferred midseason to the Beavers in 2006, but didn’t play in any games.

Jeremy Sr. averaged 23.5 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals per game in his senior season at Joliet Township High School, where Jeremiah also went to high school. In addition to basketball, Jeremy Sr. was an all-state player in football.

Jeremy Sr. played professional basketball across Europe for six seasons. Jeremiah recently said that his father sacrificed his career to raise him and his siblings.

“My father played a huge role for me and my brothers,” Jeremiah said in an interview on SLAM. “He’s been there in the journey every single step. He’s been doing everything to put us in a position in the end of the day.

“He sacrifices his basketball dreams to kinda help us pursue our dreams, so just being here kinda puts hope in us, put us in the situation now, so bless him,” Jeremiah added.

Jeremy Sr. has three other children: Jeremy Jr., Jamarri, and Skylar. Jeremy Jr. is the oldest of the four and plays point guard at Michigan State. He averaged 7.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game last season.

“Jeremy helped a lot,” Jeremiah told NBA Draft analyst Krysten Peek about his brother’s impact. “He really kind of molded me into the person I am today, the player I am today as well. He was beating me [in basketball] back when I was younger. So, just being able to kind of give him a lot of the credit as well to help shape me into the person I am today.”

Jeremiah’s younger brother, Jamarri, is a Class of 2027 point guard at Romeoville High School in Illinois.
