NBA Champion Makes Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Case As ‘2nd-Best Power Forward Ever’ Over Kevin Garnett: ‘Shaq in Guard Form’

Jeff Teague says Giannis Antetokounmpo is the 2nd-best PF ever over Kevin Garnett, calling him Shaq in guard form.

Former NBA champion Jeff Teague stirred up a heavyweight historical debate on the Club 520 Podcast. He made a strong case for his former teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo as the second-best power forward of all time, ahead of Kevin Garnett.

Jeff Teague Puts Giannis Antetokounmpo Ahead of Kevin Garnett In Best Power Forward Ever Debate

Teague made his stance clear when the all-time rankings discussion came up during the latest episode of the Club520 podcast:

“What Giannis can do, nobody can do. Giannis is Shaq in like a guard form. Literally, he runs you over, dunks on you… And I love KG, he is probably one of my favorite basketball players, but Giannis didn’t have to leave to get his ring. He didn’t have no other hall of famers on his team to win. Like Jrue might be a hall of famer. It ain’t Ray Allen, Paul Pierce top 75,” Teague said.

The debate centered around the No. 2 spot at power forward. The Greek Freak is widely accepted as the greatest ever at the position. Teague’s argument leaned heavily on loyalty to the franchise and the championship context.

Antetokounmpo’s résumé is already stacked. A two-time MVP, a Defensive Player of the Year, NBA champion, and Finals MVP, Gainnis delivered one of the most iconic title-clinching performances in league history with 50 points in Game 6 of the 2021 Finals.

He did it with a Milwaukee core featuring Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday — excellent players, but not universally regarded as top-75 all-time talents.

Garnett, meanwhile, captured his lone championship after joining forces with Ray Allen and Paul Pierce in Boston, forming a superteam that won the 2008 title. KG’s defensive versatility and leadership remain legendary, and his MVP award (2004) and 15 All-Star nods cemented him as one of the most complete big men the game has seen.

Teague’s Shaq in guard form comparison speaks to Giannis’ unique athletic profile. At nearly seven feet tall with ball-handling ability and downhill speed, Antetokounmpo blends brute force with perimeter mobility in a way few players ever have.

Teague also brings perspective. He was part of Milwaukee’s 2021 championship roster, giving him a firsthand look at Antetokounmpo’s impact on a title team. That proximity adds weight to his endorsement.

Antetokounmpo, meanwhile, made his comeback on Monday, March 2, after a 15-game absence. The Bucks’ star was nursing a right calf strain. His return against the Boston Celtics at Fiserv Forum was marked with inconsistent shooting, as he stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points but only managed 7-of-18 field goals while missing all three-point attempts.

It was the worst shooting night for the Greek sensation, who has so far managed an impressive 63.6% field goal efficiency in the 2025-26 season. The Bucks lost their third straight game and are 11th in the East with a 26-34 record.
