Boston Celtics power duo Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have been together in the franchise since 2017. The dynamic duo led the Celtics to an NBA Championship in 2024 and has made the team a consistent contender in the Eastern Conference playoffs. This year, Boston suffered a shock defeat in the conference semifinals against the New York Knicks, and it will aim to avenge that loss in the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season.
However, Celtics fans hope to avoid the worst possible scenario of not having their star player for the entire season after Tatum suffered a non-contact Achilles tendon rupture during Game 4 of the conference semifinals against the Knicks. The 27-year-old underwent a surgical procedure to repair it and was sidelined from the rest of the season and potentially the upcoming season.
Jaylen Brown Provided Some Positive Health Updates on Jayson Tatum
Off the court, Brown avidly streams live videos on Twitch. During the stream, he answers questions his followers ask in the chat box. In his latest Twitch stream, one of his followers asked the shooting guard to provide an update on his Celtics teammate’s health and rehab process.
Jaylen Brown just described Jayson Tatum’s recovery as “superhuman” on his Twitch stream:

Brown replied, “We’ll see when JT [Tatum] will come back. JT looked great, though, I’m not gonna lie. I have never seen anybody recover so fast from an Achilles injury, from any injury to that level. JT been- JT need to slow down.”
He added, “No, JT has been going crazy. Ah, he’s going crazy, but he should slow down. Anybody with a drive and a work ethic and a passion for the game, I’m not surprised. No, for sure. No, no, he’s definitely a superhuman.”
The former Duke Blue Devils power forward is a six-time All-Star and has been named to the All-NBA first team four times. Such is his talent that he has quickly risen up the ranks and become the face of the organization since he was picked third overall in the 2017 NBA draft.
Tatum and Brown have been integral cogs of the Celtics unit, and the fans and front office staff hope Jayson completes his rehab soon so that he can join the roster in the upcoming NBA season.
Tatum Feels ‘No Pressure’ in Completing His Rehab Process
While Tatum is expected to see most of the action in the upcoming NBA season, he feels no pressure to ramp up his rehab to speed up his return to the court. During the Celtics media day on September 29, Tatum reflected on the same.
He said, “No pressure from (Celtics president of basketball operations) Brad (Stevens), (coach) Joe (Mazzulla), the team or the organization. The most important thing is that I’m 100 percent.”
Boston commences its preseason journey with a game against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum on Wednesday. The team will play four preseason games, after which it kicks off its NBA campaign against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 22 at TD Garden.
