Celtics Star Jaylen Brown Opens Up on Thinning Hair and Using Coverup Product: ‘I Left My Mark on Them’

Boston Celtics superstar and 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown has opened up on his hair loss struggles and the online embarrassment.

Jaylen Brown is one of the recognisable players in the NBA, known for making extraordinary plays and coming in clutch during the most significant moments, hence being the 2024 recipient of the NBA Finals MVP.

This season, Brown hasn’t gone viral for his exceptional play, but instead for his thinning hair and leaving hair products glittered all over his opponents.

The Hair Loss Journey of Jaylen Brown

Brown’s head left a mark on New York’s OG Anunoby, Detroit’s Ron Holland, and Kyshawn George of the Washington Wizards. He told People, ‘I was a little bit embarrassed.’

‘After a while, it was like, ‘Those dudes should be grateful. They’re lucky that I left my mark on them. I should get a thank-you card: You have the residue of a champion on you. You’re welcome.’

To tackle the issue head-on, the Boston Celtics superstar has partnered with hair growth supplement brand Nutrafol to grow his hair back and destigmatize hair loss.

Brown admitted that the lofty expectations of playing for the Celtics have contributed to his hair loss, as fans expect a championship every season or else it’s deemed a failure.

The four-time All-Star said, ‘It’s the high expectation to win [the championship], or the season is a failure. Being a star player, every win and every loss has an impact.’

Brown later addressed the black marks he was leaving on opposition players, explaining it was normal for barbershops “to add enhancements to make [your hairline] look even or [cover] spots where you’re thinning.”

Brown is one of the most accomplished players on and off the court, and his reaction and dedication to embarrassment and negativity are the reasons he is the player he is today.

Despite being savagely mocked for his hair problems, Brown is having a stellar year for the Boston Celtics, averaging 29.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and five assists per game.

Without the help of his right-hand man, Jayson Tatum, who is sidelined for most of the season with an Achilles injury, Brown has been imperative in leading the Celtics to a 17-11 season thus far.

He has recorded at least 30 points in his last six games and 13 overall. He also has two 40+ point scalps against the Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks.

The Celtics star expressed, ‘I’m the maximize your potential type of guy. I’m going to level up every time.’

With or without hair, the 2024 NBA champion has shown that insults and embarrassing posts are not going to stop him from getting the job done. Instead, it has thrown more fuel on the fire, making him a much scarier proposition.
