Jaylen Brown Fires Back at Doubters by Highlighting Team’s Achievement

Before this season started, many believed the Celtics would have an off year. Jayson Tatum suffered a significant injury that many thought would cause him to miss the whole season. Additionally, the roster underwent significant changes, resulting in the loss of many of its core players.

The team, however, ignored the noise that claimed 2025-26 would be an off year for them. With Brown leading the team, they have secured their 50th win of the season, putting to rest the discussions that they’d have a ‘gap year.’

Following Sunday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets, Brown could not resist firing back at those who had doubted the Celtics.

“50 wins in a gap year ☘️,” he said on X (formerly Twitter).

The Celtics have consistently been among the most dominant teams in the Eastern Conference for over a decade now. This year will mark their 12th straight playoff appearance, which is the longest active streak in the NBA. During this run, they’ve reached the Finals twice and won a championship once.

Over the last few seasons, Brown and Tatum have used their combined star power to assert the team’s dominance over their peers. For most of this season, Brown was at the helm by himself.

With the spotlight directed squarely at him, Brown has risen to the occasion. In the 65 games he’s played in so far, he’s led the team in scoring with 28.6 points per game. He’s also averaging 5.2 assists per game and 1.0 steals per game.

Brown alone is already a nightmare to prepare for when facing the Celtics. They got even more difficult to contain when Tatum, who had torn his Achilles tendon in last year’s playoffs, made his unexpected return.

So far, Tatum has played in 11 games this season. In these 11 outings, he has averaged 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. Now that the Celtics’ star duo is back, they are poised for another deep run in this year’s playoffs.

With eight games still on their schedule, they also have an opportunity to overtake the Detroit Pistons for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
