Jaylen Brown insists the best version of him is still to come as the Boston Celtics face major roster rumors this offseason.

Jaylen Brown Says ‘His Best Is Yet To Come’ Amid Celtics Roster Rumors

Following a chaotic year with a massive roster and financial overhaul, the Celtics still finished as the Eastern Conference’s second seed with a 56-26 record.

Their interest in Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo is no secret, but acquiring such a superstar will require tough decisions, potentially including releasing core players to free up cap space.

Yet, rather than focusing on external noise and speculation, Brown has made it clear that his personal ceiling remains untouched.

Building on his standout season, Jaylen Brown discussed his continued growth as a player during his latest stream on Sunday night.

“Getting prepared for next season. So now we back to work. Plenty of motivation, plenty of motivation to improve, get better. I know a lot of people think like they’ve seen the best version of me. And you stand corrected,” Brown stated.

“… I feel confident in the sense where I’m coming into my physicality, my mental game, my weaknesses are turning into my strengths. And you have not seen the best version of Jaylen Brown. We’ll see where the chips fall, but I’m excited about that.”

Brown’s remarks come after a grueling 2025-26 campaign, which transformed him into a legitimate MVP candidate while embracing the challenge of leading the team. After Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon in May 2025, Brown was pushed to shoulder a much larger role, and he delivered.

He carried the load, registering a career-high average of 28.7 PPG and 5.1 APG, with 6.9 RPG, on 47.7% shooting to finish third in the league in total points (2,038). He also became the first player in Celtics history to lead the NBA in total field goals made (736).

This individual brilliance elevated the entire team, which was expected to struggle after losing its main playmaker to an injury.

Under NBA Coach of the Year Joe Mazzulla, the Celtics posted a regular-season offensive rating of 120.0 (second in the NBA), a defensive rating of 111.7 (fourth in the NBA), and a Net Rating of +8.3.

Even though a 3-4 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers ended their postseason after Tatum missed Game 7 due to a knee injury, the team’s foundation remains rock-solid, thanks in large part to the groundwork laid throughout the season.

The upcoming summer comes with some heavy roster changes, and whether Brad Stevens pulls off a blockbuster trade for the Greek Freak remains to be seen.

For now, the Celtics know they possess a tier-one offensive star in Brown, and with his promise to deliver an even better version of himself, the franchise’s championship run is closer than ever.
