The New York Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers courtesy of some high-pressure defense, solid efficiency shooting, and better intangibles. Jalen Brunson couldn’t lead his team to victory and bowed out of the playoffs, expecting to do much better next year. He played his part in one of the most physical series in the league for quite some time.
Players bounced off each other and could probably have sores at night with all the pushing and shoving. Despite this aggressive approach, Brunson overtook Luka Dončić and created a unique record. It shows his raging bull effort to get the Knicks past the Pacers.
Jalen Brunson Gets Past Luka Dončić in Elite Scoring List
Exploring the most points scored in the playoffs, the Knicks point guard stepped into the 98th position with 1701 points, just above Dončić, who stays in 99 with 1697 points. Above Brunson is Damian Lillard, who has 1715 points and is currently out with an Achilles injury. If Brunson and the Knicks got past the Pacers, he could have leapfrogged Lillard into the 97th position or higher.

Considering his age and the group he plays for, his dazzling offensive output, which keeps improving every season, would propel him forward. But as of right now, LeBron James leads the scoring list with 8289 points. Michael Jordan comes in second with 5987. The gap’s surely remarkable. The closest active player on this list is Kevin Durant, who has 4985.
It simply shows the longevity and consistency of the remarkable King James, who will become the first player to play 23 seasons in the NBA. Returning to the Brunson record, although he got past Dončić in the playoffs, he’s way behind the Slovenian in the regular-season point-scoring record.
Dončić amassed 12878 points so far and is among the Top 250 scoring leaders in the NBA’s history. Brunson has work to do, and he stays with 8821 points. But those numbers could improve, considering the improvement he brought to the Knicks in recent seasons.
Jalen Brunson Remains the Undisputed Leader of the Knicks
With his contract expiring at the end of this season, Brunson put pen to paper and signed a four-year, $156,549,124 extension deal with the New York franchise. In his fourth season, he would receive around $43,000,000 a year as the Knicks consider him their leading man.
There’s no doubt he earns it with the numbers he produces. The stocky point guard from Villanova takes bumps like a man and attacks the basket at his will. He averaged 30.7 points in six games against the Pacers, dished out 5.7 assists, and had a 91.5% free throw percentage.
Consequently, with Brunson at the helm, the Knicks faithful don’t have to stress about their future. They have a top point guard who can demoralize teams with his clutch play and mental fortitude.
