In a recent MLS matchup between Inter Miami CF and Orlando City SC, Morant’s former partner KK Dixon brought their daughter Kaari Jaidyn Morant to the game—and that’s where the magic happened. Dixon, an entrepreneur and author, captured a series of moments on her Instagram Story showing Kaari on the sidelines, full of excitement and wonder.
The game ended in disappointment for Inter Miami, who lost 3-0 to Orlando City. Still, soccer legend Lionel Messi—arguably the greatest of all time—took time after the match to greet fans.
In the video clips posted by Dixon, Messi can be seen walking over to the crowd, shaking hands and acknowledging young fans, including little Kaari. After the encounter, Kaari turned around and, full of joy and disbelief, exclaimed a simple but powerful five-word reaction.
“He just smiled at us!” said Kaari being excited after meeting her favorite soccer player.
Moreover, Dixon and Kaari weren’t the only recognizable faces in attendance. NBA veteran Derrick Rose was also spotted at the match, enjoying the evening alongside his children.
Now, while Kaari is making headlines, it’s worth revisiting her background. Morant and Dixon began dating back in 2017. Their relationship blossomed during Morant’s college years, and in 2019, they welcomed their daughter.
Although the couple eventually parted ways, they have both remained devoted to co-parenting and supporting Kaari as she grows. Since the split, Morant has focused on his basketball career and self-development, while Dixon continues to build her brand and engage with fans online.

On April 15, during the first play-in game against the Warriors, Morant rolled his ankle in the third quarter, raising doubts about his availability for the second play-in matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.
Fans held their breath, unsure if their star would be able to suit up. But before the game, a heartwarming moment brought relief and smiles.
Cameras captured Morant on the court with Kaari, sharing a playful 1-on-1, and in a viral clip, Morant was seen lifting Kaari toward the hoop, helping her guide the ball into the basket.
