Stephen Curry might be the face of the Golden State Warriors, but his wife Ayesha has built a dynasty of her own. While the four-time NBA champion dominates the hardwood, Ayesha has quietly transformed from an aspiring actress into a culinary mogul and lifestyle entrepreneur. They stand as one of America’s most recognizable power couples, yet their story goes far beyond basketball rings.
Here is a look at the woman who turned a “no athletes” dating policy into a global brand.
How Did Ayesha and Stephen Curry Start Their Journey?
The pair didn’t fall in love at first sight when they met at a church youth group in 2003. Steph was 15, and Ayesha was 14, but their romance didn’t spark until five years later. They finally reconnected in Hollywood in 2008, leading to their first official date. The relationship moved quickly from there, with the 11-time All-Star proposing in July 2010. They tied the knot on July 30, 2011, in North Carolina, setting the foundation for their future success.
After graduating from Weddington High School, the 36-year-old initially pursued a career in acting. She landed roles in films like Underground Street Flippers (2009), Dan’s Detour of Life (2008), and Love for Sale (2008).
However, she soon found her true calling in the culinary world. She started by creating cooking videos on YouTube before releasing two cookbooks, The Seasoned Life in 2016 and The Full Plate in 2020.
Her success in the kitchen led to major television opportunities. She launched her own Food Network show, Ayesha’s Homemade, in 2016, which she rebranded to Ayesha’s Home Kitchen a year later.
Additionally, she served as a judge on the American adaptation of the cooking competition series “Family Food Fight” and partnered with Michelin-starred chef Michael Mina to open restaurants.
How Does the Couple Balance Family and Philanthropy?
Ayesha expanded her portfolio in April 2020 by launching Sweet July, a brand encompassing a lifestyle magazine, a brick-and-mortar store, and a product line. She followed this growth by establishing Sweet July Productions in September 2020 and Sweet July Skin in 2023.
Most recently, she opened the Sweet July Café in Santa Monica last year. Beyond business, the couple founded the Eat, Learn, Play Foundation in 2019 to combat child hunger, improve access to education, and provide safe places for kids to stay active.
They manage these ventures while raising four children: Riley (born 2012), Ryan (born 2015), Canon (born 2015), and Caius (born 2024). Interestingly, this life wasn’t part of Ayesha’s original plan.
She jokingly revealed to People in 2020 that she had a strict policy against dating athletes “because they’re arrogant.” Fortunately for the NBA superstar, he was the exception.
