Stephen Curry has been dealing with a back issue, and fans have been wondering if he’ll be back for the Warriors’ next big matchup. He missed the game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, March 18, where the Golden State Warriors still pulled off an impressive 104-93 win.
But will their superstar be ready when they take on the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, March 20? Head coach Steve Kerr just dropped a key update.
Kerr Confirms Stephen Curry’s Return
After sitting out Tuesday’s game against the Bucks for some much-needed rest, Curry is officially set to return on against the Raptors. Warriors head coach confirmed the news during an interview on 95.7 The Game’s Willard and Dibs Show, saying:
“[Steph]’s doing great. He’s going to play tomorrow.”

Curry first felt the discomfort last Thursday during pregame warmups. While the issue isn’t serious, it has required some management. Following Golden State’s 114-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday, Curry addressed the situation himself:
“It just started hurting,” Curry said about his back. “Last Thursday, it was actually pregame. It was something that I’ve dealt with a couple of years ago, but it was just a weird thing that popped up, and it was more just managing it. More and more, it’s just my back that I was dealing with the last couple of days.”

The Warriors didn’t need him to pull off a shocking win over Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard’s Bucks, but having him back will be a huge boost as they look to extend their 15-3 record since Feb. 8—the best in the NBA alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Warriors vs. Raptors – What’s At Stake?
The Warriors (40-29) host the Raptors (24-45) at 10:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, with both teams fighting for positioning. Toronto is just 5.5 games behind Miami for the final SoFi Play-In Tournament spot but faces a tough road ahead, with eight of their final 13 games away from home. Meanwhile, Golden State is surging, ranking third in net rating (11.2) and second in defensive rating (107.6) since early February.
And Curry’s presence will tip the balance significantly in the Warriors’ favor. The Warriors star has been a dominant force this season, leading the team in scoring in five of their last 10 games. He recently made history as the first player ever to hit 4,000 career three-pointers during a dominant win over the Sacramento Kings.
He also reached 25,000 career points against the Detroit Pistons and delivered a jaw-dropping 56-point explosion against the Orlando Magic—the fourth-highest of his career.
Now, the NBA’s all-time three-point king is back. The Warriors will look to keep their momentum rolling with Curry leading the charge.
