The Golden State Warriors have been off to a strong start in the 2025–26 NBA season. With their latest (118–107) win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night, they have improved to a solid 5–3 record.
But now, as they gear up for another big test against the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 5, one question is dominating the minds of every Warriors fan: whether Stephen Curry will be playing tonight or not.
Is Stephen Curry Going to Suit Up Against the Sacramento Kings?
Unfortunately, there’s bad news for Dub Nation. Curry has been ruled out of Wednesday night’s game against the Kings due to illness. Head coach Steve Kerr confirmed the decision shortly after Tuesday’s win.
He explained that Curry wasn’t feeling well even during the Suns matchup, which was a game in which he still dropped 28 points with his efficiency. According to Kerr, the 37-year-old veteran needs some “rest” before returning to action, which is a move aimed at keeping the team’s cornerstone healthy for the long haul of the season.
“He’s wiped out right now, so I don’t care what the doctors say. We gotta get him some rest. I’ll make the decision right now. He’s not going to play tomorrow. He needs rest. He’s been sick. All the travel and everything, it’s just caught up to him,” said Kerr during the postgame interview after Tuesday’s win.
Curry’s absence hits especially hard because of how sensational he’s been to open the campaign. He’s putting up 26.8 points per game while knocking down shots at a crisp 45.4% from the field and 38.9% from deep, where he’s splashing 4.4 threes a night. Moreover, if we see he’s also balancing the scoring load with 4.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 31.1 minutes.
“I’ll be alright. Need a day to hopefully kick it to the curb and get back to full strength. It’s good enough to get through the night, but it’s getting worse, so I don’t want to stay too close, stay far away from y’all,” said Curry during Tuesday’s postgame conference.
However, Curry isn’t the only Warrior on the injury ledger The latest report also features players like:
- Jimmy Butler III – Questionable (Back Issue)
- Al Horford – Out (Toe Issue)
- Alex Toohey – Out (Knee Issue)
- De’Anthony Melton – Out
Without Curry and if Butler ultimately doesn’t suit up, the Warriors will need bigger two-way nights from Draymond Green.
The Condition of the Sacramento Kings Squad
The Sacramento Kings are also dealing with injury concerns heading into Wednesday’s game. As per the latest report from ESPN, the players on the injury list are:
Zach LaVine – Questionable (Back Issue)
Domantas Sabonis – Questionable (Ribs Issue)
Keegan Murray – Out (Thumb Issue)
The Kings have stumbled out of the gate at 2–5, but they still have dangerous shot-creators who can swing a single-game script.
DeMar DeRozan is averaging 20.4 points per game with his signature midrange craft, while Dennis Schröder is chipping in 14.9 per night and pressuring defenses with pace and paint touches. Even with bodies missing, that tandem can generate enough offense to test Golden State’s point-of-attack defense.
With both squads dealing with injuries, Wednesday night’s clash promises to be an unpredictable one.
