‘There’s a Good Chance’ — Insider Reveals $175,369,698 NBA Champion Could Be Traded This Offseason

A sad fact about the NBA is that many fans get more excited about the offseason than the season itself.

The offseason has already started for over half the league. Nothing has happened yet, but that could change. In fact, one of the bigger mid-season changes may already be undone this summer.

Anthony Davis Could Be Traded This Offseason

Amazon Prime’s Chris Haynes revealed during his appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio that there’s a good chance Anthony Davis might be on a new team this summer.

“I do think there’s a good chance that he may end up somewhere else by the time next season starts,” Haynes said.

After his injury problems manifested themselves from the get-go with Dallas, the Mavericks basically salary-dumped him on the Washington Wizards, where he has yet to play. The Wizards also acquired Trae Young alongside their young players. Those trades gave the Wizards options, but it doesn’t automatically make them contenders.

Davis is 33 years old, so there are only so many years he has left in his prime, on top of already having a rap sheet of injuries. That speaks volumes for Davis’ current trade value.

It raises so many questions. Did Davis and the Wizards not talk about their prospects before the deal went down? Was Davis not aware that his value was so low? Did the Wizards not know Davis had concerns?

This could all culminate in Davis never playing a game in a Wizards jersey. If that’s the case, for the second straight time, Davis is involved in one of the biggest NBA trades in recent memory! First, the Dallas Mavericks traded for him in the most inexplicable swap in NBA history, then the Wizards took him, thinking he’d be a prime buy-low candidate, only for him to make the recent comments.

Something else worth pondering is who would want Davis? His injury-prone tendencies have only gotten worse as he’s aged, and he’s tied for the third-most expensive contract in the NBA with Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo, as he’ll make almost $58.5 million. The only two players making more than him will be Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokić.

The Wizards were willing to make that investment because they didn’t have much to lose, but other teams do. Sure, Davis would probably be best off with a playoff-ready team, but it’s hard to see how this situation gets cleanly resolved.
