How Much Has NBA Fined Anthony Edwards This Year? Timberwolves Star Slapped With $50,000 Fine After Taunting Lakers FansĀ

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was fined for taunting Los Angeles Lakers fans. Here's how much he's been fined this season.

Anthony Edwards is one of the most charismatic and polarizing players in the league. He’s also one of the most outspoken — sometimes for better, sometimes not. When Edwards gets trash talk, he fires back with the spirit of Atlanta behind him.

One great example came in the Netflix documentary “Court of Gold,” where Edwards spoke directly to former US President Barack Obama about his game. It was a bold moment, showing how confident Edwards is, even around powerful people and veteran players.

Because of that, Edwards has become one of the league’s most popular stars. He’s known for his confidence, flashy play, and shooting. But while he’s loved by many, not all of his moves or comments land the same way.

Anthony Edwards Has Been Fined Again by the NBA

Edwards has his own share of personal drama going on at the moment, but he can’t manage to stay away from a fair share of funny moments that land him in hot water. While the NBA is far less lenient on fines than they were in the past and Edwards is testing those boundaries again.

Edwards blurted an obscene sentence to a Los Angeles Lakers fan in response to their heckling, and the NBA fined him $50,000 for that action. This is not the first time Edwards has been fined. In fact, with this additional $50,000 fine, Edwards is now up to $335,000 in fines for the 2024-25 season overall.

During the regular season, he was fined $285,000 for multiple violations, but this one does drive home the fact that players are expected to adhere to a different standard. Edwards responding to reckless hecklers shouldn’t result in a large fine, but that’s the league and their policy.

With multiple fines, it seems as if Edwards has no desire to bite his tongue or not speak his mind, which could be another reason why he was adamant about not wanting to be the face of the league.

Can the Wolves Get the Advantage Against the Lakers?

While Edwards and his antics have been headlines recently, his play has to be discussed as well. The sixth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves are currently up 1-0 on the third-seeded Lakers as they prepare for Game 2. Can the Wolves be able to take advantage of the Lakers and push to a 2-0 series lead?

The Timberwolves will need Edwards to be at his best, as well as good performances from Julius Randle, Naz Reid, Jaden McDaniels, and Donte DiVincenzo. If the Wolves can put together a great effort, they will be a tough out in this series.

Edwards might be willing to clap back at heckling fans and detractors, but his primary focus is making sure the Timberwolves have a successful playoff run.
