How Many NBA All-Star Appearances Does Kevin Durant Have? A Closer Look at the Rockets Star’s Achievements

Here's everything you need to know about Kevin Durant's long history of making the All-Star team.

Kevin Durant doesn’t get enough credit for how awesome he still is as a basketball player, even at 37. Even in Year 19, Durant is averaging nearly 26 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists while shooting 51% from the field, 40.4% from three, and nearly 88% from the free throw line.

Unsurprisingly, he made the All-Star team, a selection that no one disagreed with. Not just because of how well he’s played, but because those are the kind of numbers that have given him All-Star nods in the past.

What is Kevin Durant’s History With the All-Star Game?

Durant’s play during the 2025-26 season was enough to make the All-Star team, but ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed that he made it as a reserve.

Doing so means Durant has made the All-Star team with every single team he’s played for: Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, Phoenix, and now, Houston.

Durant has been in the NBA for 19 years, and this All-Star appearance makes it his 16th as a player. He didn’t make his first All-Star team until his third year in the league (2010), and he made it year in and year out until he tore his Achilles tendon in 2019. Missing the entirety of the 2019-20 season ended his streak of consecutive All-Star teams.

However, since returning for the 2020-21 season with a clean bill of health, he has made every All-Star game since. Only three players have had more All-Star appearances, per ESPN’s (and PFSN’s) Alex Kennedy: LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kobe Bryant. Durant is also tied with Julius for the fourth-most All-Star appearances among NBA players ever.

Durant also has the third most points among NBA All-Stars, trailing only James and Bryant, which makes sense because they have made more appearances than Durant has. If his number of appearances isn’t impressive enough, Durant has also won a few All-Star Game MVPs.

In his previous 15 All-Star Game appearances, Durant has won the game’s Most Valuable Player award in 2012, when he played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and 2019, when he played for the Golden State Warriors. At this rate, Durant has played so well that it’s not out of the question that he can’t win another before he hangs it up.

What makes Durant so impressive is that while it’s not abnormal for revered all-time players like him to make the All-Star team in their late 30s, more often than not, it’s for sentimental reasons, but that’s not the case with him.

Durant has slowed down somewhat over the years, but he is still one of the NBA’s most unstoppable scorers. Hence, he’s not getting voted in just because he’s Kevin Durant. He’s getting voted in because he’s still better than most of the players still in the NBA.
