Erik Spoelstra Makes Shocking Confession About His Children

Very few stars in the league have seen their stock rise as much as Jalen Brunson in the last couple of years. A second-round pick who served as a benchwarmer for the Dallas Mavericks for the majority of his time with the team, Brunson has found a new lease in NY.

Since joining the franchise, he has emerged as the centerpiece of their entire operation. A consensus top-10 player in the league, he led the Knicks to their first Conference Finals appearance since 2000 last season.

Thanks to his incredible success, the team extended him with a four-year, $156,549,124 deal after initially signing him to a four-year, $104 million contract.

His success has also translated to national recognition, as he was a key figure on Team USA at the Olympics. That is where he ended up developing a bond with Spoelstra, one that the two-time NBA champion isn’t all too thrilled about.

As Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reported on X, the veteran head coach made a hilarious admission to reporters. “I can’t look at myself in the mirror for how much I grew to like him.”

Since their time on the national team, the two have developed a close bond with each other, with the reigning Clutch Player of the Year even checking in with him after his house caught on fire.

He also made a hilarious quip about his two sons being huge fans of Brunson to the man himself. Seemingly, the rival, “I told them that’s not allowed in my house.” The banter between them has clearly developed over time spent together.

However, as two people who were on opposite sides butting heads during their 2023 playoff series, the camaraderie won’t affect the way they compete on the court. In his career, Spoelstra has a 36-23 record against the Knicks, following his team’s latest win, 115-113.
