Grizzlies’ Latest Injury Report Features Ja Morant

Eight players find themselves on the Grizzlies’ latest injury report as of Dec. 26. The players in question are Ja Morant, Zach Edey, Scotty Pippen Jr., Vince Williams Jr., Cedric Coward, Brandon Clarke, John Konchar, and Ty Jerome.

Morant has a questionable status for the team’s upcoming matchup. He is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered on Dec. 15, missing the last four games.

Injuries have been tough for the star guard, having him be absent from 15 of Memphis’ 18 previous contests. This season has also been brutal for the two-time NBA All-Star, averaging 17.7 points and 7.5 assists per game on poor shooting splits of 35.7% from the field, including 19.4% from beyond the arc.

Edey has been unavailable since suffering a significant ankle injury on Dec. 7. He won’t be back until the new year, when he gets another evaluation on his injury. Prior to the injury, he was making strides as a sophomore in the league with 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest.

Pippen won’t be back in the rotation until mid-January, having yet to appear in a game this season. He suffered an injury on his left big toe during the preseason in October, which has kept him out for a significant time since.

Williams won’t be available for the upcoming matchup due to a knee injury. He suffered it after the Grizzlies’ Dec. 17 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, missing his fourth consecutive game.

Coward carries a questionable status for the next game. He is recovering from a heel injury, as the rookie guard looks to keep providing quality production in the offense with 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Clarke, Konchar, and Jerome round out the report. Clarke only appeared in two games this season before suffering a Grade 2 right calf strain that will hold him out until January. Konchar is recovering from thumb surgery and will not return until the new year, while Jerome anticipates a January return after sustaining a significant calf injury.

What’s Next on Schedule for Grizzlies?

The Grizzlies will aim to be fully healthy for the new year, as 2025 hasn’t been kind to their roster.

Memphis has a 14-16 record on the season, holding the ninth spot in the Western Conference standings. They are ranked above the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks, while trailing the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns.

The Grizzlies will be at home as they prepare for a matchup against an Eastern Conference team. They host the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 26 at 8 p.m. ET before going on the road to face the Washington Wizards on Dec. 28 at 6 p.m. ET.
