The Golden State Warriors have been ravaged by injuries this season, most notably to Stephen Curry. Although injuries are common for veteran teams, the list has been unusually long and has severely hampered their ambitions.
Despite the setbacks, they have battled throughout and secured a play-in spot, hoping to regain key players in time for the tournament.
The latest injury report provides updates on the Curry brothers, Al Horford, and Quinten Post.
Golden State Warriors Injury Updates: Status of Stephen Curry, Al Horford, and More
According to reports, Curry has yet to participate in a scrimmage due to the knee injury that has sidelined him for nearly two months. Another update is expected later this week to clarify whether he can return by April.
Even while short-handed, the Warriors defeated the struggling Brooklyn Nets in their last contest behind 31 points from Gui Santos, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft who has recently emerged as a contributor.
According to the latest injury report for Friday’s game against the Washington Wizards, Curry remains out. The team had hoped for an earlier comeback, but his absence from scrimmages suggests his return is not imminent.
The four-time champion’s brother, Seth Curry, is also out due to a left adductor strain. Veteran center Al Horford missed Wednesday’s game with an injury and remains sidelined, officially listed with a right soleus strain.
Quinten Post missed Wednesday’s contest and will also miss Friday’s game. He is dealing with right foot injury management, while Malevy Leons is set to return.
Long-term absentee Jimmy Butler III will miss the remainder of the season, along with Moses Moody. Butler tore his ACL earlier this year, while Moody was diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee.
It has been a difficult season for Golden State, with injuries contributing to their slide in the Western Conference standings. The front office’s plan to secure Curry another championship late in his career has been undermined by the team’s health issues.
Still, the Warriors remain determined, hoping to have Curry back and role players healthy enough to make a run in the play-in tournament.
The Wizards, meanwhile, are also dealing with significant injuries.
According to the 9:30 p.m. Thursday injury report, Anthony Davis (left finger sprain), Trae Young (low back pain and right quad contusion), Kyshawn George (left elbow sprain), and Cam Whitmore (right shoulder deep vein thrombosis) are all out.
D’Angelo Russell is not with the team, while Bilal Coulibaly, Tre Johnson, Alex Sarr, and Tristan Vukcevic are all listed as questionable.
