Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors: NBA Insider Clarifies Trade to Warriors Has ‘No Smoke’ Yet

Here's what the latest trade reports have to say on the possibility of Giannis Antetokounmpo joining the Golden State Warriors.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks continuing to be questioned by the majority of the basketball world, the Golden State Warriors’ fanbase must be eager to know if there is any chance to recruit the 2021 NBA Finals MVP.

Although Antetokounmpo managed to lead the Bucks to a championship half a decade ago, their lack of postseason success over the past several years has led fans to wonder if Antetokounmpo will demand a trade.

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo Be Traded to the Golden State Warriors?

Due to the Bucks’ star’s close relationship with Stephen Curry, many assumed that a transition to the Warriors was always a possibility. The combination of the two NBA stars could prove deadly and would instantly transform the Warriors into title contenders.

However, recent reports suggest otherwise, implying that there is no real underlying momentum prompting Antetokounmpo to join the Warriors. Be that as it may, senior NBA Insider Sam Amick pointed out that there is no perceivable reason for Antetokounmpo to leave the Bucks and join the Warriors.

The Insider attempted to dismiss all notions of a trade to the Warriors by highlighting that there was no traction between both sides on the subject.

Amick said, “Does Giannis want to be in Golden State? I don’t have total clarity on that, but there’s no smoke there to my knowledge. In fact I’ve chatted w/ some of their core players & to be clear the indication was we don’t have any reason to think that he’s trying to get here.”

According to this report, Antetokounmpo has no well-established reason to join the Golden State Warriors, which makes sense given that the majority of trade rumors are based on his personal relationship with Curry, something that cannot be viewed as a deciding factor when considering career choices.

In any case, there is a shortage of suitors for Antetokounmpo. Unlike the Warriors, who are in a competitive Western Conference, several teams in the East are well aware that adding Antetokounmpo to their roster will make them favorites to qualify for the Finals.

The Miami Heat and New York Knicks are two teams that have been frequently linked to trade rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo. Fans are left wondering about Antetokounmpo’s preferred destination under the assumption that he tries to force his way out of the Bucks.
