Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors: NBA Insider Reveals 3 Teams In the Race For Bucks Superstar

ESPN insider Ramona Shelburne identified the three teams most heavily involved in trade talks for Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

It seems like the Milwaukee Bucks are officially open to trading Giannis Antetokounmpo. There have been multiple speculations that the Greek star is done with Milwaukee after failing to contend for the chip and failing to build a balanced roster.

The two-time MVP played in just 36 games due to a knee injury. He still averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists, a reminder of exactly what is on the table even as his future with the franchise winds down.

Ramona Shelburne Reveals 3 Teams That Are Trying to Trade For Giannis Antetokounmpo

With the 2026 NBA Draft set for Tuesday, June 23, and Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam reportedly targeting that date as an informal deadline, the field has narrowed to three serious suitors.

“Right now, it’s really 3 teams you hear most about. The Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat…. For Boston, it would be the best player they could give Jayson Tatum to play with in his prime,” Ramona Shelburne said on SportsCenter.

“For Miami, pairing him with Bam Adebayo is the perfect front-court pairing and the star they’ve been needing for a long time. For MIN, Ant Man has had success in the playoffs, but not gotten over the hump, and you’re on the clock with a superstar of that caliber in his 20s. That is a pairing they have long looked at,” she added.

Shelburne’s breakdown of Boston carries real weight given where Tatum stands physically. The All-NBA forward tore his right Achilles in last year’s playoff loss to the Knicks and did not make his 2025-26 season debut until March, returning with 15 points in his first game back.

Pairing a healthy, fully recovered Tatum with Antetokounmpo is the best thing Boston can do, and they will be immediately back into title contention. There have been rumors of Jaylen Brown’s exit as well, but they have been baseless so far.

The Miami deal is based on Adebayo, who has remained the one untouchable piece in every Heat trade scenario floated this offseason, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Adebayo gives Miami a frontcourt partner who would not need to be replaced in an Antetokounmpo deal, only complemented, which is exactly why Shelburne called it the “perfect front court pairing.”

Minnesota’s situation is different. Anthony Edwards has carried the Timberwolves to consecutive deep playoff runs, and pairing him with a two-time MVP in his prime would give Minnesota a real window of opportunity.

It has been reported that the Bucks aim to resolve this situation before the 2026 NBA Draft on June 23, which is just hours away. It will all depend on which of these three teams can put forth an attractive offer to Milwaukee, or whether another team swoops in for the Greek star.
