Giannis Antetokounmpo Ruled Out for Bucks vs. Magic on Sunday

The Bucks are limping to the end of the season, with their chances of earning a postseason berth dwindling with each game. Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Magic, they are 27-35 and sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, several games behind the Play-In picture.

Milwaukee isn’t out of the playoff race just yet, as they have a chance to make the Play-In Tournament by climbing the standings. For them to do that, though, they’ll need to have near-perfect execution in the 20 games left on their schedule.

That might be harder to do, as they have numerous players out against the Magic, including Antetokounmpo. According to a post made by the Bucks on X, the star forward will sit out Sunday’s game due to right calf injury management.

He had recently missed 15 straight games after suffering a calf strain on January 23, but he did suit up in his team’s last three games, returning on March 2 against the Celtics. During that stretch, he averaged 23.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.7 steals. The team went 1-2 in these games.

This latest absence will be the 30th game he’ll miss this season, with most of those absences occurring due to right calf strains.

Aside from Antetokounmpo, the Bucks will also be without guard Kevin Porter Jr., who is dealing with right knee synovitis. This is the third straight game that he’s out of the lineup.

Forward Taurean Prince, who has been out of the lineup since November, also remains out of action. He sustained a herniated disk in his neck and is continuing to recover from surgery.

Forward Kyle Kuzma is also on the team’s injury report due to a thoracic spine contusion. However, he is currently listed as questionable, meaning his participation hasn’t been completely ruled out just yet.

He played in his team’s most recent game against the Utah Jazz on Saturday, suggesting he sustained his injury then.

Meanwhile, the Magic remain without Franz Wagner, who has been out with a left ankle sprain. Jonathan Isaac, Jase Richardson, and Anthony Black are all listed as questionable as well.
