Ty Lawson Calls For Los Angeles Lakers To Trade Deandre Ayton

After the game, former NBA star Ty Lawson sent out a post (via X) calling for the Lakers to move on from Ayton.

Lawson wrote: “Alright!!! I’ve seen enough it’s time to get Deandre Ayton up off the lakers!!! Rob pelinka it’s time to start cookin up trades ideas.”

Ayton has also spent time with the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers over his eight seasons in the NBA.

His career averages are 16.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 59.0% from the field in 399 games.

During the 2021 season, Ayton helped lead the Suns to the NBA Finals (where they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games).

The Lakers have one of the most talented rosters in the NBA led by Luka Doncic.

Therefore, the addition of Ayton is expected to help them have a big season.

They were lucky enough to land Ayton without having to give up any assets (since he was bought out by Portland over the summer).

Via ESPN’s Shams Charania (in July): “BREAKING: Deandre Ayton has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell ESPN. Between Portland and L.A., Ayton will earn $34 million next season. Agents Nima Namakian of Innovate Sports and Bill Duffy of WME Sports reached the deal with Lakers president Rob Pelinka.”

The Lakers lost their first game of the season (at home) by a score of 119-109 to the Golden State Warriors.

They will play their second game on Friday night when they host Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
