‘He Ruined That Franchise’ – NBA Fans React As Mavericks Are Set To Fire GM Nico Harrison

Dallas Mavericks and NBA fans alike rallied together to put soon-to-be-fired GM Nico Harrison on blast for ruining the franchise.

It took them a little longer than some fans hoped, but it seems like the Dallas Mavericks are finally ready to move on from Nico Harrison.

Following a 3-8 start to the season and with Anthony Davis missing most games with an injury, ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that the ownership is about to fire the now-infamous GM.

NBA Fans Blast Nico Harrison Ahead of Imminent Firing

“BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks and owner Patrick Dumont are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison at a 10 am central time meeting on Tuesday, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon,” Charania wrote.

Of course, it didn’t take long before the news went nuclear on social media, with multiple fans mocking Harrison and the Mavs for this predictable outcome.

Here are some of the best reactions:

“Deserved. He ruined that franchise,” one fan wrote.

“It’s so embarrassing that they let their GM trade away a generational talent and then fire him for doing it,” another one said.

“Good thing they did this before he made a catastrophic move!” another one joked.

“Traded their franchise player and dipped LMAOOOOOOO,” a Heat fan added.

Mavs fans will never forgive Harrison for trading Luka Doncic to the Lakers less than a year after he led them to the NBA Finals. And while the team still wound up with Anthony Davis and ultimately got the No. 1 pick, it clearly hasn’t been enough.

What’s Next for the Mavericks?

As bad as things seem right now, there are still plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about this organization.

They had a potential generational player in Cooper Flagg, and they should be able to compete at a high level once Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving are all on the court as well.

Even if they don’t want to commit to two aging and injury-prone stars for the long run, they could still probably get a solid return for their services in a potential trade.

Of course, this should be frustrating for a fan base that just saw its team reach the biggest stage two years ago. But with Cooper Flagg there, they should be in a position to field a competitive roster and get back to playoff contention sooner rather than later.

This will all depend on who takes the reins of the team, and with so much time before the February 16 trade deadline, whoever gets the nod will have plenty of time to make the moves they need to make to straighten the course of the ship.
