The Houston Rockets will go to work this offseason. After having their best season in five years, the Rockets want to build on such a promising year. It will all depend on which superstar they chase.
One superstar whose trade feels inevitable in the next few weeks is Kevin Durant. A former NBA center who serves as a color commentator for the Rockets believes the one-time champion would be perfect for Houston.
Ryan Hollins Believes Kevin Durant Would Fit in With Rockets
In an interview with RG.org’s Landon Buford, Hollins praised Durant, saying the former MVP could fit just about anywhere.
“Kevin Durant, man — he’s electric,” Hollins told Buford. “With his skill set and the way the NBA is played today, he could literally fit in anywhere, including Houston.”
Hollins asked a good question that suggests why Durant would appeal to the Rockets.
“When you get to those big moments, do you have enough offensive firepower to execute?” he asked. “Do you trust your young talent to get you there, or do you bring in someone like KD who you know can win championships?”
Skill and all, Hollins pointed out something else about Durant that should make the Rockets think twice.
“KD would fit in beautifully—and I believe he already has a relationship with Ime from their time in Brooklyn. There’s a high level of respect for him from our guys.”
Hollins concluded by bringing up how the Rockets and Phoenix Suns could agree to a deal.
“What do you give up? KD is that talented. And to his credit, he gets that. He wants to be fair—to both teams and organizations. That says a lot about him.”

It makes logical sense for the Rockets and Suns to agree to a deal. The Rockets own multiple Suns first-round picks because of the Mikal Bridges trade. The question will be if the Suns truly want to part with such assets for Durant as he heads into the twilight of his NBA career and with his contract about to expire. The Rockets are talented but young, so there’s no rush.
If they are serious about acquiring Durant, they would have the edge on any of his other suitors. The San Antonio Spurs could offer the No. 2 pick, but that seems steep. Hollins last played in the NBA in 2014 and is currently an analyst for the Rockets.
