After 14 years and four NBA Championships, it could be the end of an incredible journey for Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors.
With rumors swirling that Green is likely to be involved in a trade including Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, he made his feelings clear after their loss to the Philadelphia 76ers last night.
Draymond Green Doesn’t Hold Back
Speaking post-game, Green said, “What a fu*king run it’s been. I’ll take the fine for it. What a fu*king run it’s been. That’s just how I feel.”
He continued, “Over the last couple of days, it’s gotten more real to me, but it doesn’t worry me. I can’t control it, so I don’t worry about things I can’t control.”
In what may be his final game in a Warriors uniform, Green scored 6 points on 2 of 7 shooting from the field, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 3Â assists. It was an underwhelming performance in a career that has seen Green become the glue to one of the most successful dynasties in NBA history.
His success and loyalty to the franchise almost gave him an untradeable status, but when Antetokounmpo becomes available, all loyalties go out the window. The Warriors’ front office is aware that Green or Jimmy Butler would have to be traded to capture the ‘Greek Freak,’ and with Butler missing through an ACL tear, it’s Green on the chopping block.
A package for Antetokounmpo would include Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandon Podziemski, and draft capital. During the post-game press conference, Green brought up a conversation he had with coach Steve Kerr that made a trade away a real possibility.

“That’s when it got real for me. I’m like, ‘Oh, maybe I should be a little more worried about this than I am.’ I didn’t get worried about it, but I was like, ‘Huh, okay. Yeah, it’s interesting.”
“He was like, ‘How are you doing?’ (I said), ‘I’m good, coach. I know all these trade rumors and stuff. It’s like, it’s weird.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, it’s crazy.’ And then he’s like, ‘How’s Hazel (Renee) handling it?’
“And that’s when it got real to me,” Kerr mentioning Green’s wife is a real indicator that the pair needs to discuss where they are going to be moving to in the near future.
Selected as the 35th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, no one would have expected Green’s career to have gone the way it has. As well as in four titles in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022, Green is a four-time All-Star and a Defensive Player of the Year.
He made nine All-Defensive teams and two All-NBA teams. Green is a Warriors legend and will have his name hanging in the rafters someday.
