It’s been an up-and-down start to the 2025-26 NBA Season for the Golden State Warriors. In their most recent game on Sunday evening, they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 124-106, improving the Warriors’ record to 9-6. With the Pelicans deep in a disastrous stretch, the win itself wasn’t the story.
The real headline was Draymond Green’s face-to-face exchange with a courtside fan. After days of speculation, we finally know what the fan said and what punishment Green will face for responding.
Will Draymond Green Be Suspended?
Charania reported this morning that the NBA issued a warning to Green for his role in the interaction with the courtside fan. There will be no fine and no suspension.
For Green, any extracurricular behavior is scrutinized under a massive microscope. He’s one of the league’s loudest voices and never turns down confrontation.

His history with courtside incidents is well-documented, including a fine in 2022 for swearing at a fan, along with years of leading or hovering near the top of the league’s technical-foul charts.
The resume is long: the $25,000 fine for kicking Steven Adams in 2016, the subsequent Finals suspension, and high-profile dust-ups with Jordan Poole in 2022 and Kevin Durant during the 2018–19 season.
This latest exchange with a Pelicans fan didn’t cross into punishable territory, but it still folds neatly into Green’s long-running reputation as one of the NBA’s most contentious figures.
What Did the Fan Say to Green?
The viral moment came late in the second quarter after Green fouled Herbert Jones on a layup attempt, with cameras catching him talking to a courtside fan. Both stayed surprisingly calm, standing face-to-face and talking for about 10 seconds before players and referees stepped in and separated them.

“He just kept calling me a woman,” Green said after the game. “He got quiet, though. So, it was fine.”
