Tanking has been a problem across the NBA that the league is trying to find a solution for. In a 30-team sport, where at least 20 are well and truly alive for a spot in the playoffs, the conversation should revolve around these squads.
However, more often than not, it falls to the bottom of the barrel, particularly as organizations try to tack on more losses in increasingly creative ways. Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, who had to face one such tactic from the Sacramento Kings, had enough and made a fiery rant to fix the problem.

Draymond Green Proposes Solution for NBA Tanking
With Stephen Curry coming back to the lineup, the hope for the Warriors to make at least some noise in the postseason is alive once again. In his second game back, Golden State suited up for a divisional game against the Kings.
However, at 21-59, Sacramento is tied for the worst record in the conference and doesn’t want to decrease its chances of a high pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. As a result, the Kings resorted to some unusual tactics to secure a loss against Golden State.
With the game still hanging in the balance late in the fourth quarter, the Kings started fouling the Warriors to run up the score. Eventually, they were able to secure a 110-105 loss to help their quest for the draft.
Green, though, wasn’t a fan of the incident. Directly calling out the fouls against Seth Curry, he complained, “I get fined when I do wrong. Just fine the hell outta people. They love taking money from players. Keep fining teams. I’ve seen two fines.”

Then, he called out a double standard from the NBA itself in the way the repercussions for athletes and teams are handled. “If it’s players, they snatch that money in a heartbeat. Why isn’t it the same? Everybody loves money.”
Continuing his point, he added, “We know exactly what to do when somebody gets a technical foul. We suspend ’em for a game. All of a sudden, we got team issues, and we don’t know what to do. What happened to the whole take the money stuff?”
In rare instances, the league has stepped in, as Green noted, to issue fines against entire organizations.
However, given the rampant tanking across the NBA, the ramifications aren’t as severe or as common as they should be.
As a result, instances like the one against Curry continue to prevail, particularly with just a couple of games remaining on the schedule. It remains to be seen if anything changes in the offseason, but for the time being, the story remains largely unchanged.
