What Happened to Dillon Brooks? Latest Injury Update on Suns Star

The Suns’ playoff hopes take a hit as Dillon Brooks sustains a significant injury against Orlando, sparking concern for the run.

The Phoenix Suns secured a hard-fought 113-110 overtime win against the Orlando Magic on Feb. 21, but the victory came at a significant cost. Guard Dillon Brooks exited early with what has now been confirmed as a serious hand injury.

The timing is difficult for Phoenix, as Brooks had just returned from a one-game suspension and has been one of the team’s most consistent contributors this season.

Dillon Brooks Has Broken His Left Hand Confirmed By Shams Charania

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Brooks sustained a broken left hand and will be sidelined indefinitely.

“Phoenix Suns guard Dillon Brooks has sustained a broken left hand and will be sidelined, sources tell ESPN. Doctors will meet to determine a timetable. Brooks is a key part to the playoff-contending Suns, averaging 21+ points and 3+ rebounds this season. Difficult injury blow,” Charania reported on X.

Brooks left late in the first quarter against Orlando after appearing to clutch his left hand and wrist on multiple possessions, particularly after shooting.

He played seven minutes before heading to the locker room, finishing with five points and three rebounds on 2-of-7 shooting. The Suns ruled him out shortly after the third quarter began.

The injury occurred in Brooks’ first game back after serving a one-game suspension, which kept him out against the San Antonio Spurs.

Suns Already Shorthanded Amid Playoff Push

Phoenix entered the game without Devin Booker, sidelined by a right hip strain, and Haywood Highsmith, who is rehabilitating a right knee injury. Despite being undermanned, the Suns forced overtime and prevailed 113-110.

Brooks has appeared in 50 games in his first season with Phoenix after joining via trade following a two-year stint with the Houston Rockets. He is averaging a career-high 20.9 points, along with 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.0 steals, while shooting 44% from the field — another career best.

He is currently averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game along with 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 44% from the field, another career best.

The Suns are 30-20 in games Brooks has played this season, underscoring his importance as the team pushes toward the postseason. Phoenix currently sits seventh in the standings with a 33-24 record.

The team has lost four of its last six games, including back-to-back defeats against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Spurs.

The Suns return to action Sunday, Feb. 22, against the Portland Trail Blazers. They will need to adjust their rotation without one of their most productive players.
