Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks will never be known as someone shy about sharing his opinions, especially when it comes to Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.

Dillon Brooks Is No Fan of Lakers’ LeBron James

When Brooks was asked by streamer N3on about whom he considered the most overrated player in the NBA right now, he immediately named James.

“I would probably say LeBron right now,” Brooks said. “I feel like he overrated right now; his time is coming to an end.”

James is currently in his 22nd NBA season, and he’s played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in two stretches, the Miami Heat, and the Lakers. James, of course, started his career with the Cavaliers, then went to the Heat, returned to the Cavaliers, and has been with the Lakers for eight seasons.

In the 2025-26 NBA season, James is averaging 21.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. He is shooting 50.2% from the floor for Los Angeles. James has won four NBA championships in his career — one with the Cavaliers, two with the Heat, and one with the Lakers. He also won NBA Finals MVP honors in those championships.

Brooks, who was a second-round draft pick by the Houston Rockets in the 2017 NBA Draft, is averaging 21.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game for the Suns this season.

Brooks is shooting 44.9% from the floor. He played his first six NBA seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, then played the next two seasons with the Rockets. He is now in his first season with the Suns.

Heading into a Sunday matchup against Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, James and the Lakers are 29-18 overall and No. 6 in the Western Conference. As for Brooks and the Suns, they are 30-19 overall and just behind the Lakers at No. 7 in the West.

So Brooks might have his opinion on James’ play at this point in his career, but both teams are battling for the divisional lead, and James and Brooks will play big roles in how their teams fare as the season rolls along.
