Dell Curry, Stephen Curry’s father, shared his thoughts on his son’s workouts and how Stephen’s relentless mindset helped him get to where he is today. Curry, widely known as one of the greatest three-point shooters in NBA history, has been staying away from the court due to patellofemoral pain syndrome and a bone bruise. He will miss a couple more days, but has been slowly resuming workouts.

Dell Curry Discusses Stephen Curry’s Workouts that Paved His Way to Success

Stephen Curry’s family is rooted in the NBA, with his father, Dell Curry, and his brother, Seth Curry, also having strong presences in the league. Dell was one of the premier shooters of his time, showcasing his mid-range prowess and earning fame for his offensive flair. He passed on his work ethic to his sons and recently highlighted a quality in his elder son that propelled him to great heights of success.

On The Athletic Show, host Marcus Thompson asked what he thought about Curry’s workouts. Without hesitation, he highlighted the four-time NBA champion’s pace and his zeal to show up every day.

“The pace of it, the game speed pace. Just the grind to do it every day, not seeing the end of it. But when you get to the end, realizing this is why I’m able to do this. Now you get to see the fruits of the labor,” he said.

The Golden State Warriors were on a skid in the 38-year-old’s absence. However, it finally saw a ray of hope with a milestone victory, 125-117, over the Washington Wizards, a team with one of the most disjointed defenses. It also marked the 600th win for Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

As Curry prepares to resume his playing days, a lighthearted moment unfolded on The Athletic Show. It all came down to which family, his or LeBron James’, had scored the most points cumulatively. The host noted that the Curry family was behind by 4,000 points, but then Seth’s name came to the fore, and the total reached 44,620 points. On the other hand, James and his son, Bronny, racked up 43,290 points.

“That’s why I’m saying it’s the family. It’s the household.”

In the 2025-26 season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 4.8 assists, and 0.4 blocks per game. The 38-year-old, currently on his 17th NBA season, has the highest career free-throw percentage in NBA history and aced a three-pointer in 268 straight games over more than five years until 2023.
