NBA Insider Provides Crucial LeBron James Injury Update as Playoffs Inch Closer

LeBron James had Los Angeles Lakers fans worried with his groin injury. The four-time NBA champion exited the Lakers game against the Boston Celtics in the final quarter, and did not return to the court.

Though fans held out hope for a minimal injury, reports revealed that James will be out of commission for a few weeks.

And with the NBA playoffs approaching in April, most fans remain worried about James’ performance post-injury.

Shams Charania Provides LeBron James Injury Update

Now, while a groin injury would normally keep a player out for 1-2 weeks, James has always been known to bounce back faster. The 40-year-old has continued to play at a high level, convincing fans that a groin injury won’t deter his journey towards a possible fifth NBA title.

Breaking down James’ injury, Charania said:
“Lakers’ LeBron James has returned to Los Angeles, per medical recommendation, as he continues to progress well from a groin strain with the team finishing road trip Thursday in Milwaukee and Friday in Denver, league sources tell ESPN.”
Considering the injury and its severity, James is set to miss a week or two more. This run includes some crucial games against championship contenders like the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Buckets.

What Did James Say About His Groin Injury?

Even though an extended absence can be worrisome right now, James is sure of his ability to recover.

Speaking to fans after the Lakers 111-101 loss against the Celtics, James said:

“Not much concern. Obviously I’m day-to-day. I’ll look at it each day and see if it gets better. We’ll take the proper measures to see what we need to do moving forward.”

Of course, James was aiming to reassure fans.

Interestingly, James suffered from a groin injury during his first season with the Lakers, which put an end to his streak of 13 straight postseason appearances. James went on to win his fourth title in LA during the 2019-2020 season.

With Luka Dončić on the Lakers roster now, James is determined to bag another title.

Currently ranked fourth in the Western Conference, the Lakers are also yet to clinch a playoff sport. And though a trip to the postseason is more or less confirmed, a lower seed could impact their matchups.
James, at the top of his game at 40, is averaging 25 points, 8.2 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game.
The Lakers are slated to play the Bucks on Thursday, March 13 at the Fiserv Forum next.
