Clippers Injury Report: Latest Updates on Kawhi Leonard, Bogdan Bogdanović, Others

The Los Angeles Clippers are starting to pick things up again after a surprisingly miserable start to the season. Kawhi Leonard is back in the fold, and doing so has gotten the Clippers’ act together.

Alas, the team has not been entirely immune to the injury bug. They are still dealing with a few player absences that could be a problem if they want to have any hope of returning to the playoffs.

Who is Currently on the Clippers’ Injury Report?

The latest on the Clippers’ injury report could be a lot worse, but it’s still not great. Independent Clippers’ journalist Justin Russo reported that Leonard is questionable for their upcoming game against the Brooklyn Nets due to a right ankle sprain.

Meanwhile, Bogdan Bogdanović (left hamstring injury management), Bradley Beal (left hip fracture), Derrick Jones Jr. (right knee sprain), and Chris Paul (not with the team) will all be out.

Per ESPN’s Injury Status page, Bogdanović is expected to return on January 12, Jones is expected to return on February 19, and Beal is out for the season.

The Clippers can view the glass as half full or half empty. Leonard being questionable is somewhat of a miracle because he is seemingly always out for extended periods.

It’s not bad until they confirm it’s bad, which is an improvement over Leonard’s absence, which has always been detrimental to them.

As for the others, it’s a shame some of them are out, but the Clippers can manage. They have done better without Bogdanović, though again, Leonard’s return has played a hand in that. Losing Jones after just getting him back stinks, but they have the wing depth to withstand it.

The Beal injury will forever be a factor because it contributed to the Clippers’ decision to trade Norman Powell for John Collins, as he was intended to fill the void left by Powell (also because they didn’t want to pay Powell).

The Clippers still have plenty of ground to make up in the Western Conference, but they are not as helpless as they once were. Even if Leonard doesn’t play, they are going up against the Nets, a team that probably won’t give them much of a fight regardless. Even so, they’ll need all the help they can get for the rest of the season.
