The Chicago Bulls have stirred up the wrath of their fans, and NBA fans overall, after waiving Yuki Kawamura in favor of a player whose biggest claim to fame is dominating the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest for the past three years.
On Friday, the Bulls signed Mac McClung and added him to their roster. McClung, who was playing for the Orlando Magic’s G League team in Osceola, Florida, last season, has been a highlight reel during NBA All-Star Weekend by putting on a show at the rim. Bulls fans, though, don’t think much of the move that the franchise has made.
Fans Are Mad Over Adding Mac McClung
One Bulls fan has some pointed thoughts on the state of the franchise at this moment. This person didn’t hide their disdain for dropping Kawamura right now.
Ain’t no way yall picked McClung over him 😂
Poverty franchise.

“Ain’t no way yall picked McClung over him,” the fan wrote, “Poverty Franchise.”
Another fan wasn’t pleased with the move, either, but must have enjoyed seeing Kawamura play. “RIP Yukimania July 2025 – October 2025,” this fan posted on X. “We will always remember the times we shared”.

This NBA fan pointed out how much Kawamura had played recently and wrote, “Why? His only time he got to play was the 2nd preseason game and he was dishing it up like crazy. He made great passes and made the team have to move around a lot. He’s earned his spot much more than most 12-14 man players on every team”.
As for this fan, the move wasn’t a favorite one for the Bulls to do. The fan wrote, “Slimed bro for McClung” followed by a heartbreaking emoji.
Words were not suitable for this fan, who decided to show displeasure through a cartoon character’s antics.

A Bulls fan loved seeing Kawamura out on the court and wished he had more time with the team. The fan wrote, “Tough pill to swallow. Yuki dazzled with no-look passes and swift handles, captivating us from day one. Thanks for the magic; you’ll dominate defenses elsewhere soon. Best of luck, Yuki!”
Well, this fan also isn’t too sure about the Bulls roster move and wrote, “I don’t get it he be hooping”. And this fan also didn’t understand what was happening and wrote on X, “For literally no reason, he can hoop.” This three-word comment might sum up a lot of Bulls fans feelings: ‘I’m sad now”.
This fan, too, kept a comment pretty brief after hearing about Kawamura and wrote, “I’m bout to crash out.”

Kawamura played last season for the Memphis Grizzlies and is a member of the Japanese national team. When the Grizzlies didn’t bring him back, though, Kawamura joined the Bulls’ Summer League team.
He seemed to impress those who saw him on the court. On Friday, though, the Bulls said that they released Kawamura due to a medical condition. They made a move, then, to bring on McClung.
“Bulls have released Yuki Kawamura, which Bulls PR confirms is due to a medical condition,” Chicago Sports Network reporter K.C. Johnson reported in a post on X.
“Kawamura has been sidelined with right lower leg pain. Coach Billy Donovan will talk to media following Saturday practice. Bulls are off Friday.”
Still, Bulls fans weren’t happy. Three hours later, McClung was waived, and Trentyn Flowers was signed to a two-way contract.
