NBA Insider Reveals Bucks’ Stance On Potential Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Amid Knicks Rumors

NBA insider Chris Haynes reveals the Bucks stand about Giannis Antetokounmpo amid renewed Knicks trade rumors and league wide interest.

Each day adds another round of speculation surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar is sidelined due to a right calf injury. But the league-wide attention has only intensified around his future.

Even while off the court, the Greek Freak remains the biggest name in NBA trade discussions as teams closely monitor whether Milwaukee’s situation could shift. Recent struggles by the Bucks have only added fuel to the fire, but whether the team is ready to move the nine-time all-star is a different question.

Chris Haynes Syas Bucks Not Ready to Move Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee’s recent slide, highlighted by a lopsided 45-point loss to the Brooklyn Nets, has raised eyebrows across the league and sparked renewed talk about Antetokounmpo’s long-term outlook.

Despite the noise, the Bucks have yet to signal any willingness to move the player who defines their franchise.

Antetokounmpo, drafted 15th overall in 2013, has grown into a generational two-way force and remains central to the Bucks’ identity. According to senior NBA insider Chris Haynes, that stance remains unchanged.

“The Bucks do not want to part ways with Giannis,” Haynes said. “They’re doing everything that they can to try and make him happy. It’s going to come down to whether their hands are forced or the Bucks decide to do right by him.”

Haynes added that while interest exists around the league, the Bucks’ preference is still to build around Antetokounmpo rather than trade him.

That said, the New York Knicks continue to be mentioned prominently in Antetokounmpo rumors, and that connection is not new.

According to Haynes, last summer was heavily centered around New York as a potential destination. There was reported interest on both sides following the Bucks’ third straight early playoff exit. Discussions stretched over multiple weeks in August 2025, but Milwaukee had no urgency to make a move.

At the time, the Knicks’ asset pool also presented challenges. Limited future first-round picks, due to league restrictions, made it difficult for New York to assemble the type of package a complete Bucks rebuild would require if the Greek sensation were truly made available.

Now, with trade chatter resurfacing, Haynes once again identified the Knicks as one of several teams closely watching the situation. That list includes franchises prepared to act immediately if the Bucks’ stance changes.

For now, Antetokounmpo remains out as he recovers from his calf injury, and no official timeline for his return has been announced. The Bucks continue to signal that they want to move forward with him as the centerpiece.

Until circumstances force their hand, the Bucks appear committed to keeping Antetokounmpo right where he is, even as rumors continue to swirl daily.
