Bruce Brown Makes Bold Admission After Kevin Durant Altercation: ‘Wish There Was Fighting in the NBA’

Bruce Brown addressed a heated exchange with Kevin Durant as the Nuggets fell to the Rockets on Saturday night.

The Denver Nuggets have been enjoying a smooth and impressive run this season. They currently hold a strong 20–7 record and sit third in the Western Conference standings.

However, their latest outing ended in frustration, as they fell 115–101 to the Houston Rockets in a game that featured several heated moments and emotional reactions.

Bruce Brown’s Comments After the Saturday Night Game

One of the biggest talking points from Saturday night came late in the third quarter of the matchup between Denver and Houston.

With just over two minutes remaining, the Nuggets trailed 69–62 when Bruce Brown got into a verbal exchange with Kevin Durant. Brown appeared to chirp at the Rockets star, and Durant quickly responded. The back-and-forth intensified and drew the attention of nearby players and officials, who stepped in to prevent the situation from escalating before the game headed into a timeout.

After the loss, Brown was asked about the moment during his postgame interview, and he did not shy away from addressing it.

Brown explained that Durant said a few things during the exchange that crossed the line in his eyes. While he did not go into specific details, Brown admitted emotions were running high and said he wished physical confrontations were still part of the league.

“Some words were said that’s a little disrespectful. Boy, I can’t wait to see them next time… I wish there was fighting. I wish we didn’t get a fine. Would’ve had some fun. As a man, there are things you don’t say to another man,” Brown said postgame.

The Brown–Durant clash was not the only headline-worthy incident of the night. Nuggets head coach David Adelman experienced the first ejection of his NBA head coaching career after voicing his displeasure with officials in the fourth quarter. Adelman’s reaction was animated, and as staff members worked to guide him away, cameras caught Durant watching the scene with a visible smile.

Later, Durant was seen celebrating again after sinking a deep 3-pointer that added extra fuel to an already scrappy night.

“It’s part of the game. Some people can talk and play. Some people can’t,” Durant said regarding the altercation after the game.

On the court, Durant led Houston with a 31-point performance. Denver, however, started the game well, holding a three-point lead after the first quarter. The Nuggets’ offense slowed significantly in the second quarter, allowing the Rockets to take control.

By halftime, Denver trailed by eight points. Although the Nuggets scored 21 points in the third quarter, Houston responded and built its largest lead of the night at 21 points in the fourth. Denver ultimately could not recover.

Nikola Jokic and Brown led the Nuggets with 25 and 12 points, respectively, but their efforts were not enough. The Nuggets will get another shot at the Rockets on March 11.
