According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Denver Nuggets are signing Tyus Jones. Here is what the NBA world is saying.

Tyus Jones is in the middle of his 11th season as a pro.

NBA World Reacts to Denver Nuggets Signing Tyus Jones

On Monday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Jones is signing a deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Charania wrote, “Free agent guard Tyus Jones has agreed to sign with the Denver Nuggets, his agent Kevin Bradbury of LIFT Sports Management tells ESPN. A veteran point guard and ball handler to fill a need for the Nuggets’ backcourt.”

Here’s what people were saying about the news of the signing:

Nuggets reporter Ryan Blackburn wrote, “Tyus Jones is a low mistake player and a veteran who knows how to run pick and roll. He gives Denver another backcourt option. I don’t think he changes Denver’s title chances tangibly, but could he orchestrate offense? Sure.”

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints added, “Tyus Jones wanted a buyout from Dallas to join a playoff-contending team where he could contribute in a bench role. He now gets that opportunity to be a featured guard off the bench behind Jamal Murray for the Nuggets, a similar role held by Reggie Jackson in 2023.”

Nuggets reporter Bennett Durando wrote, “Nuggets are signing Tyus Jones at the minimum for the rest of this season, source confirms to @DenverPost. Nuggets fill their 15th roster spot w/ball-handling depth to help them get through the regular season. They also like Jones’ IQ — he’s been a low-turnover PG for a long time.”

Jones has also had stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies, and Washington Wizards over 11 seasons.

He has career averages of 7.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 44.2% from the field and 37.2% from three-point range in 738 games.

The Nuggets are the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 37-24 record in 61 games.

They are in the middle of a two-game losing streak.

On Monday night, the Nuggets will visit the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
