When you have a track record of success, especially when you’re responsible for building one of the best NBA teams in the last decade, your services are in high demand. For Bob Myers, the former general manager of the Golden State Warriors, his success has led him to a grand opportunity to solidify himself as a master at building and shaping winning teams.
ESPN reporter Adam Schefter broke the news this morning that veteran NBA general manager Bob Myers, the man who previously led the Golden State Warriors dynasty to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022), will now have another stepping stone in his managerial journey. Myers will be leaving his role as an ESPN basketball analyst and becoming the president of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE).

Bob Myers Takes the Helm at HBSE to Boost Revenue and Team Performance
HBSE is a major sports ownership group that controls and manages investments in several prominent sports teams and franchises. Their investment portfolio includes the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA), the New Jersey Devils (NHL), Crystal Palace FC (Barclays English Premier League), and Joe Gibbs Racing (NASCAR team).
Myers’ main responsibility in his presidential role will be to find new ways to maximize revenue across all franchises and entities while also implementing systems that ensure optimal functionality for all, helping each organization improve the way it maximizes its value.
Aside from his new role with HBSE, Myers will continue to serve as a special advisor to the Washington Commanders organization, a position he assumed in 2024 to help revitalize and restructure their front office leadership. It is safe to say that Myers possesses great leadership qualities.
As the Washington Commanders made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game, reaching this milestone after having one of the worst seasons just a year prior. With the Commanders making it the furthest in the playoffs since 1992, Myers continues to prove his ability to rebuild and guide organizations toward success.
Myers’ Bold Decision That Sparked a Championship Era
April 2011 would prove to be a pivotal year for the Golden State Warriors franchise, as Bob Myers, a successful agent at the time, accepted the role of assistant general manager and vice president of basketball operations within the organization. This move single-handedly changed the trajectory of the Bay Area.
Myers, in just a few short years in his role, hired veteran NBA player and executive Steve Kerr as the Warriors’ new head coach in 2014, entrusting him with reshaping the brand of basketball the team was accustomed to playing. That next season, 2015, would give the Warriors their first championship. However, Myers was not done.
Being the strategic, business-minded person he is, he orchestrated the landing of Kevin Durant in 2016, which added more firepower to an already strong roster featuring two of the best young stars and shooters that the NBA has to offer in Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.
Myers did not stop there. He constructed a bench with veterans who could add valuable minutes in games, such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston. Myers also played a hand in giving NBA fans a front-row seat to watching the 2015–2016 Warriors, who won 73 games and only lost nine, surpassing the legendary 1995–96 Chicago Bulls, who previously held the best season record at 72–10.
Bob Myers has the opportunity to share the insight and wisdom of the principles he built one of the greatest NBA dynasties on, helping each franchise under his leadership move in a positive direction to discover their own winning formula. From the hardwood to the boardroom, Myers has shown how far a winning mentality can take anyone.
