Atlanta Hawks Announce Jonathan Kuminga News Before 76ers Game

The Atlanta Hawks announced news about Jonathan Kuminga before their game against the 76ers.

Jonathan Kuminga is in the middle of his fifth NBA season.

He is currently averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 45.4% from the field and 32.1% from three-point range in 20 games for the Golden State Warriors.

Earlier this month, Kuminga was traded to the Atlanta Hawks.

However, the 23-year-old has yet to make his debut for the franchise.

Atlanta Hawks Announce Jonathan Kuminga News

Before the Hawks play the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center (on Thursday), the team made an announcement about Kuminga.

Via The Atlanta Hawks: “Forward Jonathan Kuminga, who sustained a left knee bone bruise while playing for Golden State at Dallas on Jan. 22, is progressing in his rehabilitation. He will be re-evaluated in approximately one week, and an update will be provided at that time.”

Kuminga was the seventh pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

The 2022 NBA Champion has career averages of 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest while shooting 50.3% from the field and 33.1% from three-point range in 278 games.

Via ESPN’s Shams Charania (on February 4): “BREAKING: The Golden State Warriors are trading Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis, sources tell ESPN.”

Kuminga will be an extremely intriguing addition to a young Hawks roster.

At times, he was seen as the player who could become an All-Star in Golden State once Draymond Green and Steph Curry can no longer carry their current load.

On the other hand, the Hawks had to give up Kristaps Porziņģis (who is still a very good player when healthy).

Right now, the Hawks are the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 26-30 record in 56 games.

They are in the middle of a three-game losing streak (and 5-5 over their last ten).

Following the 76ers, the Hawks will play their next game on Friday when they host the Miami Heat.

The 76ers are the sixth seed with a 30-24 record in 54 games.
