Anthony Edwards Makes Hilarious 6-Word Admission About His Thought Process After Ferocious Poster Dunk on RJ Barrett

Anthony Edwards posterized RJ Barrett in the Wolves' fifth straight win, then joked he was trying to provoke a tech with his staredown.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is known for big plays. Since his debut, observers have seen his game blossom. As the regular season nears its end, Edwards continues to thrill. Despite being the Wolves’ offensive focal point, the 24-year-old consistently impresses with his unique style.

Anthony Edwards Jokes About Seeking Technical Foul After Poster Dunk

With Minnesota leading Toronto in the third quarter, Edwards brought the ball past half-court. He used a quick crossover to beat his defender along the left side. Noticing a clear path, Edwards took two steps into the lane. Raptors forward RJ Barrett hesitated to take a charge, but his feet appeared to be inside the restricted area.

Edwards jumped, dunked with both hands, and energized the home crowd, putting Barrett on a metaphorical poster. Afterward, Edwards stared down Barrett and shouted at him. In his postgame interview, Edwards was asked about the adrenaline rush from such a dunk. When asked about his mindset in that moment, Edwards joked that he was trying to provoke the referees into giving him a technical foul.

The Timberwolves won, 115-107, for their fifth straight victory. Barrett led all scorers with 25 points, while Edwards had 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. The win brought Minnesota’s record to 40-23 and dropped Toronto to 35-27. Although the final score was important, social media was abuzz with reactions like this.

The dunk energized the team for the rest of the game, even though Edwards’ influence waned afterward. For the remainder of the contest, he made just one more shot, a three-pointer that extended the lead late in the fourth quarter.

This victory kept Minnesota’s momentum going after the All-Star break. More importantly, the Timberwolves remain within striking distance of the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs hold the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, leading Minnesota by approximately five and a half games.

The teams play each other twice before the season ends. After a Saturday home game against Orlando, Edwards and the Timberwolves start a four-game road trip, facing the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, and defending NBA champion Thunder.

Aside from the dunk, Edwards continues to enjoy his best statistical season. He is averaging career highs in points (approximately 29.7 per game), field goal percentage (approximately 49%), and three-point percentage (approximately 40%).

The last two seasons saw Minnesota’s season end in the Western Conference Finals. With several games remaining against teams currently in playoff spots, Edwards cannot afford to slack. Is this the year he brings his team to the Finals?
