‘I Didn’t Struggle at All’ – Anthony Edwards Shares Brutally Honest Take on Underwhelming 16-Point Game 4 vs. Thunder

The Timberwolves' playoff run looks done and dusted after they trail 3-1 heading to Oklahoma, as Anthony Edwards makes a surprising statement.

Game 4 favored the Oklahoma City Thunder after a closely contested battle against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They finished the game 128-126 as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points, displaying his MVP credentials. On the other hand, Anthony Edwards struggled to get going at the Target Center and saw his team lose the game by just two points.

He scored only 16 points and had an off night on the floor when the Timberwolves needed him the most. The bench players came up big for the Wolves, scoring a staggering 64 points. However, considering Edwards’ take on the game, his post-game interview would stir a few people up.

Anthony Edwards’ Bizarre Comments After Devastating Loss to OKC

The reporters entered the locker room in the post-game interview, curious to grasp his thoughts. As entertaining as he always is, Edwards’ response might shock most Timberwolves fans.

Edwards stated, “I don’t look at it like I struggled. Or he struggled. They had a good game plan, making us get off the ball. Especially for me, man, it was super in the gaps. I made the right play all night. So, I don’t really look at it like I struggled. I didn’t get enough shots to say I struggled. I didn’t struggle at all.”

In reality, it’s a different scenario. Of those 16 points, Edwards shot 5-13 at 38.5% and had just 1-7 three-point shots, shooting 14.3%. In recent seasons, Edwards’ three-point shooting attempts have increased, and he has looked to side his attacks to the rim and prefers to shoot a three-pointer instead.

When he entered the league, Edwards had 7.2 three-point attempts, which increased by 3.1 to 10.3 per game. He shot an outstanding 39.5% from beyond the arc, though, just below the 40.0% mark. But his natural game remains attacking the rim and causing opponents to scurry to get to their positions as he causes disruption.

But if he doesn’t come big in the next two games, the Timberwolves might not be able to stop OKC. The equation is simple, with the Thunder having a 3-1 lead. The Ant-Man must step up for the Timberwolves to rally the team from their setback.

Edwards couldn’t come up big with his rebounding numbers, either. He just had four for the night and looked a little lackadaisical in his approach. If he attacks the rim, Edwards becomes a multi-offensive threat with his physical attributes to get past opponents or through them.

As a leader, he must level up during high-pressure games. However, you cannot take the NBA teams for granted, especially now that this series is almost over. Cracks appear in Minnesota, and hopefully, they can mend those up for Game 5.
