It’s been a while since we last saw Anthony Davis play. Before getting traded to the Washington Wizards, Davis got hurt in January when the Dallas Mavericks took on the Utah Jazz. He hurt his left hand by tearing a ligament mid-game.
Many sources reported that Davis has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. However, the Wizards’ general manager provided an important update regarding his new star big man.
Anthony Davis is Expected to be Re-Evaluated After the All-Star Break
It’s been a tough year for Davis so far. Throughout the 2025-26 season, AD has played in only 20 games. This forced the Mavericks to trade him, as he couldn’t prove he could stay healthy for the team.
Earlier this season, the Mavericks gave Davis an ultimatum: get back in competitive shape, or else they would trade him. Unfortunately for him, while he appeared to be ready to help Cooper Flagg get Dallas back on track, he hurt his left hand in January.
This led to AD’s inevitable trade to the Wizards. While it’s a great acquisition for Washington, many are concerned about the big man’s health and availability. Davis is notorious for being the most injury-prone player in recent memory.
While some sources indicated that he may no longer make a comeback this season, Wizards general manager Will Dawkins provided some good news for Washington fans. Dawkins said that Davis is expected to be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.
“The plan for AD right now is to go back to Dallas and finish his rehab,” Dawkins said. “He has a really good team down there. Our doctors met with them, and our medical staff is going to go down with him. We want to keep that good thing going that he has.”
“During the All-Star break, he takes another visit to the doctor,” Dawkins continued. “That’s a big appointment for us to see where his progress is at. Then, after that, he’ll return to D.C. and be here with the team.”
Will Dawkins says Anthony Davis will go back to Dallas to continue his rehab on his hand.

While Dawkins’ announcement regarding Davis sounds positive, it doesn’t necessarily confirm his return on the hardwood. For now, it seems all signs are pointing towards AD sitting out the remainder of the season. But there’s a slight chance he could make a comeback by March.
